Boschendal Diaries: Crafting Exceptional Experiences With Elizma Stone

A living, working farm that offers award-winning wine, a choice of eateries, a host of unforgettable activities and a dedicated team of staff ready to make every moment a memorable one – that is the quintessential Boschendal experience!

As the second oldest wine farm in the country, Boschendal is steeped in history while having its focus firmly on the future. Heading up the passionate team as GM is Elizma Stone. She comes with bushels full of experience in the hospitality sector.

“With over 200 employees on site and numerous departments, this is a business comprising many moving parts and it’s my privilege to consolidate it all and keep it in sync.”

From horse riding, mountain biking, food and wine pairings to the kids paradise that is The Tree House, the farm is packed with a wide range of activities to explore, no matter what your interests are.

With Elizma maintaining a watchful eye and supported by like-minded individuals, our guests’ journeys are created to be personal and memorable. Elizma is a people person, customer-centric to the core and takes great pleasure ensuring that each guest who visits us, be it for a few hours or for a longer stay, has an exceptional time on the farm. It’s about being constantly alert and hyper aware of guests’ changing needs in every space on the farm that welcomes members of the public.

“Our teams always go the extra mile and some have been with us for twenty-five years, men and women who know the Boschendal brand inside out. All who work here understand true hospitality and they are intrinsic to the smooth running and success of the estate.”

Every effort is made to curate memorable moments for one and all, delivered through impeccable, consistently excellent service across the board.

“When it comes to a Boschendal staycation, we pride ourself on a diverse offering and I enjoy matching our guests to the perfect accommodation offering, and we even welcome four-legged family members too.” For a more exclusive experience our selection of luxury wine farm accommodation includes our historical Herbert Baker-designed Cottage 1685, the 12-sleeper Mountain Villa which is perfect for families and larger groups of friends, as well as the pet-friendly Trout Cottage. For guests who wish to be closer to the action, our Werf Garden Suites provide both privacy and easy access to wining and dining outlets. Our beautifully restored farm cottages among the Orchards and The Retreat, a collective of two-bedroom cottages with exquisite mountain views, offer a fantastic farm escape for families. No matter where you stay on Boschendal, you’ll be able to immerse yourself in authentic farm living, surrounded by near therapeutic nature and stylish simplicity.

While lockdown in all its phases has been quite tough, we’ve used the time to realign, innovate and find new ways to excite the local market – undoubtedly our most valuable asset. To echo CEO Georgie Davidson, Boschendal thrives on interaction with guests and being able to welcome visitors back to the estate in the past months has been an enormous thrill.
