GET TO KNOW THE CHARITIES
All profits from this special culinary event will go directly to FRANCO, Isabelo and the Kusasa Project, three local charities chosen for their invaluable work assisting the most vulnerable members of our community, our youth.
THE KUSASA PROJECT
The Kusasa Project is a non-profit founded in 2006 by Dave Riordan and Doug Gurr in the Franschhoek Valley to address the systemic deficiencies in the areas of literacy, nutrition and sport for disadvantaged children. The project works to address the issue of recurring poverty at its roots by the establishment of an independent primary school serving disadvantaged children: The Kusasa Academy. Today the school provides critical educational foundations for underprivileged children from disadvantaged communities and gives these children a chance at a much brighter future.
ISABELO
Isabelo was born in 2009 to address the unfortunate fact that 30% of the South African population live with food insecurity and 3 out of 4 children go hungry every day. The project works to ensure that local school children are able to concentrate in class without hunger, tiredness and low blood sugar. Isabelo is dedicated to providing 1500 nutritional meals to these children. The Isabelo project has proven to be awe-inspiring thanks to the founder Margot Janse.
FRANCO
FRANCO (Franschhoek Resource And Network Coordinating Organization) is a registered non profit organisation founded in 2005 to address the impact on those without the means or capabilities to support themselves and their communities. This non profit acknowledges the role that wealth plays in driving our economy and offers financial aid, together with various forms of training and development, to equip young people with the necessary skills to enable them to secure employment. They aim to restore a sense of pride and self-esteem into under-resourced communities who’ve historically been subjected to discrimination and prejudice.
