SUSTAINABILITY PARTNERSHIPS
WWF CONSERVATION CHAMPIONS
ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERS IN SOUTH AFRICA’S WINE INDUSTRY
As WWF Conservation Champions, Boschendal is committed to biodiversity-friendly, regenerative farming practices, conserving our unique, natural areas, and continually improving our water and energy efficiencies.
GLOBAL G.A.P.
INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNISED STANDARD FOR FARM PRODUCTION
GLOBALG.A.P. sets the standards for smart farm assurance solutions, including a range of standards for safe, socially and environmentally responsible farming practices. The most widely used GLOBALG.A.P. standard is Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA), applicable for fruit and vegetables, aquaculture, floriculture, livestock, and more. This standard also forms the basis for the GGN label: The consumer label for certified, responsible farming and transparency.
SIZA
SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE OF SOUTH AFRICA
Our SIZA certification allows our farm to ensure ethical and environmentally sustainable trade through our Farm Shop. Together we monitor our impacts and conservation of the environment and remain compliant with current labour legislation practices.
WIETA
As a member of WIETA, Boschendal is able to measure legal compliance with South Africa’s labour and occupational health and safety legislation and ensure that our management systems reflect sustainable ethical principles, policies and practices.
IPW
Boschendal is proud to be IPW certified. IPW is aligned with international wine industry environmental sustainability criteria. This guarantees that all aspects of our wine production are undertaken with due consideration of the environment and that our wine is produced, bottled and sold in an environmentally responsible manner.
CAPE WINELANDS ALLIANCES
SIMONSBERG CONSERVANCY
We are actively working to conserve 700 hectares of our farm in alignment with The Greater Simonsberg Conservancy, a non-profit organisation that supports its members in their conservation efforts while providing services in the surrounding communities.
THE NATIONAL LANDCARE PROGRAMME
With guidance from this government-supported community-based initiative, Boschendal works to conserve natural resources, create a conservation ethic through education and awareness and create jobs to address poverty by launching various natural resource rehabilitation, improvement and conservation projects.
CONSERVATION AT WORK
This non-profit organisation promotes and supports the conservation of private land in the Western Cape. As stewards of high conservation importance land in the Cape Winelands, we believe it is our responsibility to protect the indigenous flora and fauna that call Boschendal home.
WINELANDS FIRE PROTECTION AGENCY
As a member of the WFPA, Boschendal works to reduce wildfire-related injuries and loss to property and the environment through the maintenance of an integrated fire management programme. We work together to promote and protect the high levels of biodiversity, endemism, and red data species of the Cape Floristic Region.
