WORKING TOGETHER FOR COLLECTIVE GOOD
Our goal is to create change for the better by providing every Boschendal employee with opportunities to voice their ideas and concerns, along with any workplace matters that may require care and attention on our authentic working farm.
WHAT IS THE BOSCHENDAL WORKERS FORUM?
Working alongside our compassionate committee of passionate members, our Workers Forum promotes the interests of each employee through active participation and conversation.
This committee of empowered employees are elected by their colleagues and meet regularly to discuss the handling of workplace matters. While the Workers Forum operates similarly to a trade union, its main aim is to be an inclusive organisation within Boschendal that allows all working members, including non-union members who are employees of the farm, to participate.
Each department has at least one representative to bring the views of every worker into the wider conversation of where Boschendal is headed.
OUR PURPOSE
The purpose of our Workers Forum is to promote fairness, unity, and to serve as a voice for our workers on the ground. We aim to bridge the gap between management and staff to create a safe and open space where everyone can communicate and connect freely and effectively.
Together with our committee, we aim to encourage openness and ensure that all employees have a platform to express their views with open communication and collaboration between every department of the farm.
OUR GOALS
The Workers Forum today strives to strengthen internal communications systems, elect passionate departmental representatives, and improve on the processes used in the past. With this forum, our goal is to become more interactive and responsive to all staff-related issues, while working closely with management to differentiate between operational issues and those that specifically pertain to the Workers Forum and JDF.
Our Workers Forum intends to be an inclusive collective that is representative of all farm workers, at every level, to ensure everyone’s voice is heard and their needs are met.
