A medal that looks beyond the bottle
There is something special about enjoying wine where it comes from. At Boschendal, we invite you to take your time, ask questions and make a day of discovering the farm.
We are delighted to have received the Medal of Excellence for Best Wine Tourism in the Tim Atkin South Africa Special Report 2026. Awarded by wine critic and Master of Wine Tim Atkin, this recognition gives us a wonderful reason to raise a glass with our guests and teams.
The Tim Atkin South Africa Special Report is one of the country’s leading annual assessments of wine. It surveys South Africa’s wines, producers, and the changing character of its winelands.
The Medal of Excellence for Best Wine Tourism considers something wider than what is in the glass. It recognises the whole experience of visiting an estate: the tastings and the table, the hospitality, the landscape, and the moments of celebration in between.
Discover the farm through its wines
For more than 340 years, Boschendal has been shaped by a commitment to craft. Today that same care reaches beyond the vineyard and the cellar into every part of a visit.
At our Cellar Door and Manor House, you can explore our wines alongside seasonal platters and food pairings: chocolate, cheese and charcuterie pairings offer different ways to discover what is in your glass.
Whether you know exactly what you enjoy or are curious to try something new, leave room for a little discovery. Find a new favourite, linger over a pairing and enjoy the pleasure of good company around the table.
For a closer look at the landscape behind our wines, our Wine & Wander Safaris take the experience into the vineyards and across the estate.
The people behind the experience
For Boschendal CEO Amy Kropman, the medal belongs to the many hands that shape each visit.
“Wine tourism at Boschendal is about creating a deeper connection with the estate, its wines, its people and its heritage. This recognition is a wonderful acknowledgement of the many teams and individuals who bring that experience to life every day.”
— Amy Kropman, CEO, Boschendal Estate
Stay a little longer
Start your visit with a wine tasting. Gather friends for a picnic on the Werf lawns, where seasonal ingredients and locally made treats fill our baskets. Settle in for a meal at The Deli or discover Arum Restaurant’s interpretation of flavour and craft.
Adventure awaits, too. Explore the farm on foot, by mountain bike or on horseback, with views of the surrounding mountains along the way. For those who would like more time to unwind, our cottages offer a welcoming base for a farm stay.
Build your visit around what you love, and take the time to enjoy it.
A celebration to share
Between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2026, we welcomed 156,399 guests to Boschendal. Thank you to everyone who made the farm part of their travels and celebrations, and to the teams whose care shapes each visit.
We look forward to welcoming you for your first taste of Boschendal, or your next.
