Paramedic

The Paramedic is responsible for providing emergency medical care, primary healthcare support, and occupational health services to employees and guests at Boschendal. The role further supports the Occupational Health Clinic through administrative functions, ensuring accurate record-keeping, compliance with statutory requirements, and efficient clinic operations in line with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act 130 of 1993.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDES BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 

Emergency Medical Response

• Provide immediate on-site emergency medical care to injured or ill employees
• Respond promptly to all medical emergencies and incidents
• Stabilise patients and arrange transport to appropriate medical facilities where required
• Assist with Injury on Duty (IOD) cases in line with company procedures.

Clinical Duties

• Conduct primary healthcare assessments and basic treatments
• Perform return-to-work assessments
• Assist with medical surveillance programmes where applicable
• Maintain and inspect medical equipment and emergency kits

Administrative Duties

• Maintain accurate and confidential medical records and clinic documentation
• Complete and manage:
• Incident and injury reports
• IOD documentation
• Patient treatment records
• Assist with COIDA reporting and administration
• Compile monthly clinic and health reports
• Manage clinic stock, inventory, and medical supplies

Coordination and Communication

Liaise with:

• Health & Safety team
• People/HR department
• External medical providers and emergency services
• Coordinate medical appointments and referrals
• Provide updates on medical cases and incidents where required

Minimum Requirements

• Qualified Paramedic (BLS / ILS / ALS or equivalent)
• Valid registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in emergency medical services
• Valid driver’s license and PrDP
