Business Systems Project Manager
The Business Systems Project Manager is responsible for the planning, execution, and delivery of critical business systems and technology projects. This role ensures alignment with business goals, manages scope, timelines, budget, and quality, and enables successful deployment and adoption of Microsoft Business Systems and other business systems solutions.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDES BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Lead end-to-end delivery of business systems projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, work breakdown structures, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
- Drive Microsoft Business Systems implementations, upgrades, migrations, and integrations, ensuring minimal disruption during cutover and hypercare.
- Coordinate and conduct requirement gathering sessions to ensure clear business objectives and deliverables.
- Lead daily stand-ups, manage critical paths, and deliver stakeholder reporting.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, including business leaders, IT teams, external partners, and vendors.
- Ensure effective governance and reporting to enable timely decision-making.
- Conduct steering committee and stakeholder status updates.
- Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, issues, and roadblocks with appropriate escalation.
- Oversee change management activities to ensure successful user adoption and transition to operations.
- Foster strong team dynamics and accountability, integrating supplier resources as part of a high-performing project team.
- Provide post-go-live support, user training, troubleshooting, and continuous system optimization.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, financial controls, and contractual obligations as an independent contractor.
- Adopt and use the project management tools and methodologies as directed by the business.
- Deliver assigned projects within agreed contract period, managing flexible billable hours and coordinating appropriate stakeholder engagement.
QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS
- Finance / Business Qualification (CIMA / Bachelors)
- PRINCE2 (2013) / Scaled Agile – Leading SAFe (2018) Preferable
- Extensive experience in business systems program and project management (20+ years), across Microsoft Business Systems and ERP platforms.
- Strong capability in Lean / Agile / Waterfall methodologies.
- Budgeting and financial management expertise.
- Risk, issue, and opportunity management.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Proficiency in project scope and requirements definition.
- Stakeholder and change management.
- Advanced planning and deployment skills, including cutover and hypercare readiness.
- Tools: Microsoft Business Systems Activate/Implementation Frameworks, PMBOK principles, Power BI reporting.
- Languages: English (Native), Afrikaans (Upper Intermediate).
