The Horticulturalist Intern supports our specialist staff in the care, cultivation, and maintenance of plants across our nurseries, gardens, and greenhouses. This role offers hands-on experience in plant care, environmental management, and horticultural operations while learning industry best practices in a regenerative environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Plant Care & Maintenance

Assist with planting, watering, fertilizing, pruning, and general plant maintenance.
Support greenhouse and garden tasks, including weeding, mulching, and soil preparation.
Help propagate plants from seeds, cuttings, and other nursery techniques.

Monitoring & Documentation

Monitor plant health and report signs of pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies.
Collect and record basic plant growth data and maintain inventory information.

Operational Support

Assist with seasonal projects such as landscape installation, harvesting, and display preparation.
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of work areas, tools, and equipment.
Learn the proper use of horticultural tools, irrigation systems, and safety procedures.

Learning & Development

Participate in training sessions, educational tours, and research activities as required.

Qualification and Requirements

Education: Matric (Grade 12) required.
Preferred Studies: Current or completed qualification in Horticulture, Botany, Agriculture, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Experience: Basic understanding of plant care principles (full training will be provided).
Physical Ability: Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and ability to lift/carry moderate weights (tools, soil bags, plants).
Attributes: Strong attention to detail, ability to follow instructions, and excellent teamwork skills.
