The Boschendal HVAC Technician installs, maintains, and repairs heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across the estate. This role ensures all systems align with safety protocols to provide comfort, maintain air quality, and guarantee operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate possesses strong technical skills, a customer-service mindset, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Installation

Install new HVAC systems, including ductwork and electrical wiring, in residential, commercial, or industrial settings.

Ensure all work follows manufacturer instructions, blueprints, and specific site specifications.
HVAC Inventory & Documentation

Set up and maintain a comprehensive inventory of all systems (location, manufacturer, model, serial number, and service history).

Maintain accurate logs of repairs, service calls, parts used, and time spent on tasks.
Maintenance

Plan and perform regular preventative maintenance to ensure system efficiency.

Clean coils and filters, lubricate moving parts, and check for leaks to extend equipment lifecycle.
Repairs & Troubleshooting

Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and replace defective parts to restore functionality.

Perform emergency repairs and respond to service calls as required (including on-call, weekends, and after-hours).

Order and manage necessary parts, tools, and supplies.
System Assessment

Inspect and test HVAC components using specialized tools (e.g., multimeters) to ensure correct operation.
Client Communication

Provide excellent customer service by explaining technical issues to users.

Advise on system conditions, maintenance needs, and potential upgrades.
Safety & Compliance

Ensure full compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and refrigerant legislation.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Certification: Trade certificate or diploma in HVAC, Mechanical, or Electrical fields preferred.

Licensing: Relevant certification for HVAC work and refrigerant handling as per regional requirements.

Experience: 2+ years of proven experience in installing and maintaining HVAC systems.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

Licence: Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Schedule: Ability to work outside normal hours, remain on-call, and travel between sites.

Physical: Ability to lift moderate weights (up to ~50 kg), climb ladders, and work in confined spaces (crawl spaces, attics, or rooftops).

Environment: Exposure to indoor/outdoor weather, varying temperatures, and potential hazards (refrigerants, electrical systems).

Safety: Strict adherence to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and health & safety protocols.
